Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme (FiPL) has been running from 2021 and in this period it has had a landscape-scale impact, supporting people, nature, climate and place.
Nationally, 5,500 projects have been completed and the achievements to date include:
11,000 farmers are participating and 97 new ‘farm clusters’ have been created.
237,000 trees and 362 km of new hedgerow have been planted – the equivalent of a hedgerow running from Oxford to Newcastle.
716 ponds have been created or restored – boosting nature recovery through safeguarding habitats and connectivity.
362 nationally designated heritage assets at risk supported. 33 km of dry stone walling has been restored — maintaining traditional field boundaries and rural skills.
103 km of new paths created, and 148 km of paths improved.
Over 17,000 volunteers and over 2,000 schools (across over 8,200 visit days) have been engaged with FiPL projects.
