Meet the team looking after the Howardian Hills National Landscape.

Estelle Hook (Ellie)

Manager

Working Days: Mon-Fri

With over 12 years working in the National Landscapes family, Ellie took on the Howardian Hills Manager role in summer 2021. She is thoroughly enjoying living and working in the area and learning about its landscape and communities.

Rosy Eaton

Project Officer (Part-time)

Working Days: Tue, Wed, Thur

A rural childhood gave Rosy a deep appreciation of nature. Her career has included environmental policy analysis/design, agri-environment delivery, overseeing conservation sites/projects and farming. Rosy gets outside as much as possible: herding cows, swimming outdoors and marvelling at wildlife. National Landscape responsibilities include forestry, historic sites and nature recovery plans.

Frances Standen (Fran)

Project Officer (Part-time)

Working Days: Tue, Wed, Thur

Farmer, shepherdess, environmental enthusiast, wild swimmer and cake baker! Frances has worked within the National Landscapes family on and off for over 20 years delivering biodiversity and landscape gains directly, inspiring and encouraging public involvement in the management of our beautiful landscapes.

Francesca Pert (Chess)

Project Officer (Part-time)

Working Days: Tue, Wed, Thur

An earth scientist keen to ensure everyone benefits from, and better understands, our landscapes. Francesca has taught field studies in North Yorkshire and worked professionally as a coastal and fluvial geormorphologist. She enjoys exploring, art and swimming in the North Sea and has been involved with the Howardian Hills team since 2011.

Nick Burrows

Farm Conservation Officer

Working Days: Mon-Fri

For a man born and bred in Yorkshire, Nick has spent significant time living and working abroad. After a short spell of military service he worked in International Development for much of his career. Responsible for the Farming in Protected Landscapes programme, Nick helps farmers to protect and develop the area he loves and calls home.

Antony Croser (Tony)

Conservation Grants Administrator

Working Days: Mon-Fri

Tony has lived and worked in the area all his life and after many years volunteering for the Howardian Hills National Landscape on practical tasks, and working in local government, he has joined the team to help with administration, including the Project Fund and Farming in Protected Landscapes programme.
