As part of our exciting dark skies project, free presentations, open to all, have taken place at village halls throughout the Howardian Hills National Landscape.
Light pollution means that over 80% of people in the UK can no longer see the Milky Way. But here in the Howardian Hills we can, and lots of other wonders too because of low light pollution.
Besides describing the finer points of dark sky friendly lighting and explaining why we need to act to preserve nocturnal habitats, the presentations also take those in attendance on a magical journey through the cosmos using a special planetarium programme. If the sky is clear there will also be a user friendly tour of the constellations through the use of a powerful telescope.
The presentations – targeted at people living in the Howardian Hills and surrounding areas – run from 7pm to 9pm. They are suitable for adults and for children over six years of age.
