Volunteering

The Howardian Hills AONB benefits greatly from the work of a team of volunteers who donate their time and skills to help conserve and enhance the special landscape and contribute to the area’s life.

There are many ways to volunteer with us:

  • Practical conservation days e.g. removal of scrub from a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation or tackling Invasive species such as Himalayan Balsam.
  • Surveys e.g. promoted walking and cycling routes.
  • Assisting at events e.g. Ryedale Show and educational outreach events.

It is a great way to make friends, learn new skills, get fit and see hidden corners of the area. Volunteers make a tangible difference to the natural environment, historic environment and the life of the AONB…and are, where possible, rewarded with cake.

If you think that you might like to volunteer with us please email us on [email protected] or phone us on 01609 536 778.
