Get in the festive spirit at local Christmas markets

Nov 11, 2022 | News

Producers across the Howardian Hills AONB are gearing up to show off all their fabulous produce at vibrant markets in the lead up to Christmas.  From inspiring gift ideas to sausages for the turkey, gin to apple juice, fresh sprouts to winter foliage arrangements, often accompanied by brass bands and cafes run by local groups, the markets are a good social outing and a chance to get into the Christmas spirit!  Hovingham market takes place on the 3rd (when there will also be an appearance by a Christmas donkey!) and 17th December, Sheriff Hutton market just on the outskirts of the AONB is on the 20th November and 18th December, and Malton’s two day Christmas Festival is on the 3rd and 4th December, buy, feast and make the most of your visit by exploring further into the AONB on one of the many walk and cycle routes.

You will be spoilt for choice for Christmas trees from the Howardian Hills this year, Castle Howard, Newburgh Priory and Duncombe Park are some of the places you can pick up your locally grown tree.
