Do you want to help shape the future of the Howardian Hills National Landscape? Then sign up to attend a special community event at Hovingham on Thursday 27 March 2025.
The Howardian Hills Partnership produces a five-year plan setting out aims for managing this magnificent 79 square mile North Yorkshire landscape. Much has changed since the last document was agreed, when priorities and threats were identified, benchmarks laid down and objectives set.
Ellie Hook, Manager of the Howardian Hills National Landscape, explained:
“You may want to express views on the natural and historic environment, planning, transport and the rural economy. Or you might just want to find out more. Up to this point we’ve held specialist workshops with local and regional representatives to feed into the new plan. But this is a chance for everyone to have a say in advance of a formal consultation and help us chart a course for the remainder of the decade.”
The event will be held at Hovingham Village Hall, and there will be two sessions: 4pm and 7pm. There will be a short presentation, followed by an opportunity for people to talk to others, ask questions and to comment on emerging ideas.

Despite having no statutory powers, the Howardian Hills Partnership has created a strong network with landowners, farmers and partner organisations. Last year it allocated over £1.6m in grants, ranging from repairs to historic buildings, to vital environmental stewardship work on farms.
