In the national Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June 2026) it seems appropriate that on 5 June we had a record turnout for our fortnightly Thursday volunteer working party.
The day at Birkdale Farm, Terrington involved building planters, cold frames and potting on and planting out young plants for Forgotten Flora (our project growing wildflowers from local seed), and the construction of bat boxes and bird boxes for distribution across the Howardian Hills. Very importantly it was just as much about those in attendance being active and enjoying good company – aided by lots and lots of homemade cake.
Thanks to Peter (Lead Volunteer), Ambrose (Forgotten Flora), Fran (Howardian Hills National Landscape Project Officer) and Birkdale Farm for ensuring everything went well and a thoroughly enjoyable time was had!
