If you enjoy good food there are an array of pubs, cafes and tearooms, offering tasty, and often locally sourced, food.
Yorkshire is famed for its local produce and the Howardian Hills area is no exception. Farmers’ markets are held monthly in Malton (named Yorkshire’s Food Capital), while the village markets at Hovingham (held on the first Saturday in the month) and Husthwaite (quarterly) have been very successfully reinstated in recent years. For a map of the facilities available in each village see here.
By shopping locally and buying local produce you can help the local rural economy as well as reduce the distance goods need to be transported. Visit the Greentraveller, North York Moors National Park and Visit Ryedale websites for suggestions of where to eat and source local produce and crafts.
