Hovingham Open Gardens
The Hidden Gardens of Hovingham are open for public enjoyment on Sunday 15th June from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. Visitors can experience a delightful self-guided tour of twelve hidden gardens in this traditional stone and pantile village.
The gardens are packed with interesting features and plants, providing a series of new discoveries and ideas. The atmosphere of each one reflects the individuality of its owner.
Tickets will be available on the day on The Green in front of Hovingham Hall - £3.50 for adults, children under 14 free. Most of the gardens are accessible by wheelchair.
Home-made teas will be available at the village hall next to the Malt Shovel pub. There will also be plant and bric-a-brac stalls and a raffle.
There will be an exhibition in the church of a project by Primary School children, planning a new layout for their school garden with a wildlife section. Elsewhere will be a mini-display of our now amalgamated local regiment, The Green Howards.
Proceeds from the day go to the £20,000 bill for restoring the roof of All Saints, Hovingham's Saxon-tower church. Last year's open gardens raised £2,000 and the fund currently stands at nearly £16,000.
