Public Transport

Public transport provision in the AONB has developed considerably in recent years, with improvements in routes, timetables and facilities. Monitoring and evaluation of bus routes and timetables has allowed innovative schemes such as 'dial-a-ride' services to be introduced. This has resulted in some villages receiving an increased number of buses per day, although good travel-to-work connections are still sporadic.

There are also a number of community transport initiatives by organisations such as Ryedale Voluntary Action and the Rural Transport Partnership that cover the AONB. These include a minibus brokerage scheme and a moped hire scheme for young people to access work or education opportunities.
