How to Volunteer
We are seeking volunteers to help us achieve our vision, which is to enable the Howardian Hills to continue to be a tranquil and well managed rural area whilst promoting a diverse and prosperous rural economy.
Opportunities include:
- Practical conservation management.
- Botanical surveys of fens, woodlands, grasslands, roadside verges and archaeological sites.
- Designing displays.
- Producing information leaflets.
- Assisting the AONB staff at local shows and events.
- Leading guided walks.
- Giving talks.
- Helping with activities for local children.

Young people aged 6 to 16 who are interested in wildlife and conservation might like to consider joining their local Wildlife Watch Group. The closest one to the AONB is Norton Watch Group. Wildlife Watch groups are run by local wildlife trusts and there are several active groups in North Yorkshire. For more information about what the Norton Group get up to please take a look at this information sheet which has been put together by some of the children.
